Editor’s Note
To my followers:
Today is the beginning of a week long hiatus for Cinemaniac Reviews. It’s saddening, and it will be a very long and uneventful week for me, due to the lack of movie watching and writing. Just think of it as a break between seasons one and two.
In the meantime, please feel free to go back to my older posts and read/like/comment on them. I’d appreciate it. I’d also love it if you recommended me some films to watch when I return. And don’t forget to celebrate Alfred Hitchcock’s would-be 113th birthday tomorrow!
Peace wherever and whenever possible. Expect new reviews Sunday 8/19.

A break is good every now and then. I’m looking forward to season 2!
Thanks!
I’ve got a month long hiatus coming up so I feel your pain, lol. See you back soon!
It’ll feel like forever, believe me. But I will be back.
We all have to do it sometime. Look forward to more reviews when you get back.
Thanks. I hope to watch Memento, The Secret Life of Bees, and Red Dragon to kick off starting next Sunday. Any other suggestions?
Manhunter – first appearance of Hannibal Lecter – it is based off the same book as Red Dragon.
Thanks, I’ll look into that one as well.
It’s a Michael Mann film – one of my favorites by him.
Have a nice break. We’ll wait for you.
Thanks, I’ll try….
Any films you’d recommend for when I get back?
I don’t know. What are you in the mood for?
Oh gosh I’d say basically anything because seven days without one movie is suicide…but preferably black comedy or thought provoking drama?
Thought-provoking drama it is! I recommend The Color Purple and The Deer Hunter.
Thanks, I’ll try to revisit The Color Purple and watch The Deer Hunter.
Hope the break is for relaxing reasons and not something bad. I’ll have to go through some of the stuff you haven’t seen to find NEW recommendations.
Relaxing, for me, is watching films, so unfortunately it is for something not all that pleasant. My mother and sister were repeatedly accusing me of being a “racist” yesterday (??????). At first, I was just plain confused (I live in an area that is incredibly diverse, so I have many friends of many ethnic backgrounds, all of whom I deeply respect), but after about an hour of nonstop rambling from them, I couldn’t take it anymore, and I lashed out on them both. I actually think it’s 50% not my fault, since they seemed to be asking for the “Wrath of Alexander”, but I still have to deal with it all. :/
Take your time with recommendations.
Bummer (also haha “Wrath of Alexander”)
I’ll have some good ones for you
Can’t wait to hear. I’ll most likely be around for commenting when you post reviews. My wonderful little iPod Touch remains in my possession.
Hope to see you soon. Can’t wait to read more of your reviews.
For recommendations, I think you might like Empire of the Sun, a very overlooked Spielberg movie. Taxi Driver’s one of my favorites by Scorsese and though since you loved The Artist, I recommend seeing a Charlie Chaplin or Buster Keaton film.
Thanks, I have a watchlist page created for further recommendations. I’ll add those titles to that one.
Doesn’t EOTS have Christian Bale–like as a little kid?
Christian Bale did star in it, which I didn’t know that was him until I read the credits. He’s really good in his role, but is very different than his recent performances in The Dark Knight and The Fighter.
I was also surprised to see Ben Stiller was in the film (in a small role).
Ben Stiller?!? Gosh…
See you in a week
Thanks.
If I don’t see 2 posts a day from you, I think something is wrong. Thanks for the warning.
Lol. I’ve been trying to watch as many movies as possible this summer. I haven’t watched as many as I would’ve liked to, with vacationing and whatnot, but I’ll try to be back next week with 1-2 reviews a day. Then it’ll be Fridays/Saturdays/Sundays only because school with have begun.
Enjoy your break my friend
It’s going well so far!
